The Park View Symphonic Band traveled to L.C. Bird High School on March 10th to take part in the VBODA Distict III Concert Assessment and to complete the Virginia Honor Band process. Virginia Honor Band status is awarded to those schools who have both Superior rated Marching and Symphonic Bands based on VBODA specifications. The Park View Marching Band earned a Superior rating in October and the Symphonic Band finalized this honor with a Superior rating with distinction. This is only the second time in Park View's history that the Bands have received this honor, with the first coming in 2009-2010. With over 300 high schools in the state of Virginia, only 50 schools have earned this honor for the 2011-2012 school year.

Park View students Eric Black and Gloria Ramirez recently participated in the All-Virginia Band event at James River High School in Chesterfield, VA. These ensembles are comprised of the best high school musicians in the state of Virginia based upon auditions. Of the 15 counties and three cities that make up VBODA District III, only 7 students were selected. Park View is the only school within District III to have 2 participants and the only District III students represented in the top performing Symphonic Band. These 2 fine musicians continually excel not only in Virginia events, but nationwide events as well. We are very proud of these accomplishments and are very pleased to have their talents and leadership in the Bands at Park View High School!!
